Bees Again! by stefneyhart

Bees Again!

While visions of exotic animals, tropical birds in Central America, and Buddhist temples dance in my head during this first year of retirement...I find myself still in my back yard with the bees beginning to show up. My solo Yukon River trip to the sea is postponed as that kind of journey requires a strong body. Ah, the lessons of life, and I must say, I am still so blessed. The adventures will unfold... meanwhile, I suppose I must defer to the Zen of bee and backyard photography. So enjoying all of your amazing photographs!!!
We lost our bee hive this winter and there are no bees around. We have ordered more, but they won't get her for another couple of weeks. I'm worried we won't have any fruit on our trees. I'm happy to see that you have bees.

@moonmtn That's so sad, so sorry. Many of my bee friends lost hives as well this winter. On the other hand other friends are collecting swarms so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

Great shot of a bee at work.

@moonmtn how interesting, you have to sort out your own bees to pollinate your trees?

@helenhall Thanks. I sure do do a lot of them... grabbed this yesterday as the last bit of sun was hitting the flowers in my back yard. My go to when I realize that I haven't got my daily picture. I'll have to work on expanding my repertoire given that I'm still stuck here. lol.

Truly marvelous timing. I had never made the connection of Zen and bees but that is a great one. Hope you get stronger so the river trip still happens. Fav!

@joysabin Thanks, It's a 3 month solo, 1400 miles of the part of the Yukon I have yet to float... Arctic Circle to Bering Straits... so I can't do it until next summer as I'd have to leave end of May, and I need both arms to row it. Not a deal, I bet I'll have a different kind of summer adventure instead this year. Its nice that retirement goes forever.

Your narrative hit very close to home...except for the planned Yukon trip. But plans made that have to be shuffled due to an uncooperative body has led me to appreciate the beauty closer to home. And yet, I do find myself looking at photos of past years and wishing...

Here is to the recuperative therapy of bees and your lovely photos.

Great capture, super timing. Fav!! 😀

@evalieutionspics Perhaps this has something to do with 'living gracefully' even if we aren't exactly living our dreams and wishes in the moment. I salute you back and cheers to our recuperative processes and the gift of beauty from nature that sustains us.

I find photographing bees very therapeutic, thank heavens for digital photography !

@wylieclicks Right, eh... it is very therapeutic just hanging out with them and watching them. I'm addicted, but know I need to develop other skills, lol. Yes, digital photography has changed everything!
