Last Sunday the British Broadcasting Corporation closed it's doors at Television Centre for the last time in 53 years.
Such a shame. It's been the home of broadcasting, arguably the world over and has served us all well. In my relatively short career, I was lucky enough to work at TV Centre twice and it was an ambition ticked off the list. It was such a pleasure to go there, and actually make some telly, albeit briefly.
I decided the logo, which is is very old design and remains on the gate after all this time, should be seen, and this inspired my processing.
Hopefully the future of the site will keep it as a broadcasting centre, but only time will tell.
Thank you all very much for your comments and FAV's - managed to get on the PP with this - very pleased indeed.
And just to clarify the BBC are still going - I'm sure it'll be going for years. But Television Centre, on Wood Lane shown here is now not being used. There are still production centres around the UK, notably in Salford, Manchester and quite a few still in London, but this particular building is now not being used. It may come back into use in a few years but for now, nothing will be done on the site.
Apologies if I worried anyone by giving them the impression that the Corporation is closing completely - that would indeed be a bad day!
Thank you all again :)
@boxplayer Great pics. I saw your shot of Westfield balls earlier in the year when I put something simliar up - although yours is way better :) And I love your pic of the whole building. Might have to go back and get something similar before all the signs come off!
