Day 2 of working at St Paul's Cathedral for the Margaret Thatcher funeral service, and I took loads of photos on the day. But when the chairs for Her Majesty the Queen and Prince Philip came out and were placed in position I couldn't resist getting a shot.
I even sat in Prince Philip's chair, although I probably shouldn't have....once in a lifetime opportunity I think :)
No wonder you couldn't resist...you have to grab these chances!!! Lovely rich red of the chairs against the more subtle back ground!
I might have walked past you at the funeral as I was standing just on the corner by the BBC pod... a wonderful spectacle & history in the making.
@witchyjacq@maggiemae@andycoleborn@annbo@edpartridge@nicolecampbell@endrem@jesperani@jantan@elisasaeter@jodimuli@irishmamacita10@sparkle@judithg@amandal@michaelelliott@libertylady@malc@sassik Thank you all very much for your lovely comments, follows and FAV's. APologies for the flatscreen, but I left it in, partly because I actually like the quirkiness of it, but it somehow proves that I was there for the reasons I state :)
Along with the 26 TV cameras and tonnes of microphones this flat screen was one of many my colleagues put in for the service so that the congregation had a view. There are quite a few spots in the cathedral where you just can't see the speakers of the alter or any of the stuff that actually happens so that's why they were their. I thought about editing it out but then thought I'd go with it :)
@khirsch@happypat Thank you both. And yes Pat at one point I was around 15 feet away. I walked past the pod both inside and outside the barrier a number of times throughout the morning :)
@judithg Yes I didn't want any more hassle & me & my friend try & go to these historic occasions as often as we can because we are fed up of sitting at home watching & saying we should have gone!!!
@pocketmouse Thank you. I am lucky to have been able to capture it. Whilst being paid :) My colleagues were there last year for the Jubilee Service held for the Queen, over the Jubilee weekend. So there's every chance I may go again for such an occasion. I think an alternative 'chairs' shot is something to aim for :)
After sitting in the chair did you get the urge to shoot wild animals?
(only the flatscreen disturbs it a bit :-) )
