Last night I was staying just outside Southampton after working at the football. Not the best hotel around, so wanted to head out but rather than get in the car again I wandered just out of the service area and to the bridge that goes over the motorway to shoot some more light trails.
After about 45 minutes it got very cold but good to be out in the dark, trying to get the best out of this, given that I was shooting through a very tall fence. Understandably it was there to stop idiots like me attaching cameras to the side of the bridge :)
I think the framing just about works with the frame blurred, and just in front of the lens.
@nicolaeastwood Thank you. You should try it - dead easy. I have been thinking about it given that fact that I will be spending a lot of 2014 travelling in the car so it's one of a few ideas I have come up with. I'll be looking for different times of the day (and night) and with more interesting roads to try and capture if I have the opportunity.
It's very cool - be a bit awkward dropping a camera on the cars...but I quite like the mesh actually. Southampton hotel let down after Cambridge - just off to see if the radio vans have arrived. Bet they're not as cool as the TV folks.
Intriguing -- the curve in the road is a nice composition element to include, and that wire mesh -- communicates so effectively. Of course YOU were there to take photos, but it also has an ominous sense to why it's there.
This is terrific! The curve contrasts with the hint of framing. Even having the stacked roadsigns in the distance to land on makes this work. A great play with lighting!
And no...radio nowhere near as cool as the TV lot :)
I know the Christmas season is crazy busy but I am wondering if you are going to put up a new Camera Settings Challenge?
