After spending the weekend on the south coast for Alexis' birthday celebrations we brought her back to my folks for a couple of days hanging out together.
This is her at the table '"doing crafts" as she calls it, which always consists of drawing, painting, cutting, moulding, sticking etc. In this picture she is painting egg cartons to make a garden of flowers and bugs made up of the cartons, stickers and pipe cleaners.
3 good things:
1 - Wake-up cuddle from Alexis...the first in weeks.
2 - A great and very fast run round the village
3 - A fun and very special bath and bedtime with Alexis, mainly because it doesn't happen very often
It all looks under control! A bit retro! It reminds me that my mum (who was a teacher) only supplied me with blue and yellow poster paints. I think they must have been over-ordered at school or something so she bought them. I often think I could have been Rembrandt if I hadn't been restricted to blue/green/yellow. Can't imagine why I didn't complain about it except that she wasn't the sort of mother you complained to - you were grateful for the two colours you had!
@judithg That's funny Judith.
Alexis seems very content with the 3 colours. And most of the time anyway, it ends up in the one pot mixed into the generic 'brown' ish colour before being plastered everywhere :)
I am sort of pleased My children are beyond the poster painting phase, my heart always dropped when there was mention of painting, making something or worse still playdoh (really because I am a bit OCD about mixing the colours). Lovely image and one to be cherished.
Paints have so come on from those horrid littke hard squares of paint which were so,wishy washy they were useless......proper vivid colours here! A girl,who likes her crafts ....she will never be bored!
@lucypics Lucy I do know what you mean. I used to hate anything that involved mess in many respects but funnily enough if she wants to do it now I just don't mind. Odd. It may be because she is getting better at keeping it under control. I do still get annoyed when the red pot turns into brown after having green, and yellow added to it :)
