Rain and poor light today prevented me from getting any decent shots from my garden so I'll give you another moment from yesterday of a pair of Great Crested Grebes attempting to feed their young a Perch that is obviously too big for them to deal with.
Eventually, after so many attempts, Mum ate it for them.
It is neat how they use mum as a ferry. They do feed the chicks for quite a while, and I once saw a similar situation. The chick was a lot bigger, but the fish was huge. I thought no way ! It took it at least 15 minutes, possibly much longer, I lost track of time, but it got it down eventually. I bet it didn't need another feed for a while.
If you have easy access to watch these, they are very good parents till the day the parents decide, the babies are old enough to look after themselves. They suddenly change and will chase the youngsters away quite viciously.
Lovely shot though
