It suddenly dawned on me that I do have a polarisation filter. It fits on a broken lens for the DSLR I hardly use anymore. I now have a superzoom which I absolutely love for its pocket size format. I figured the photoelasticity thing might work if I manually held the filter in front of the lens. I'd say it did :-)
