anniversary of the invention of first shopping cart

design has not changed much over all these years. Patented in 1940 the shopping cart was invented by Mr. Sylvan Goldman (1898-1984) and was first used in the Humpty Dumpty Supermarket in Oklahoma City on Jun 4th, 1937. It has been 80 years yesterday since the shopping cart became a part of Americana.
-- With the growth of e-commerce and what is termed "contact-less" payments, retail stores are closing and i often wonder could it be the eventual demise of our beloved "shopping cart.?" In some regions, as we move into the future, drones are now being tested to deliver pizzas and services like Grub Hub will deliver meal "kits" right to your front door without ever having to make the trip to the market. I wonder what will become of the brick n mortar stores ?? Time will perhaps re-define our history and culture.
