'Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?'

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day? (Sonnet 18)
William Shakespeare, 1564 - 1616

Shall I compare thee to a summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date.
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimmed;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance, or nature’s changing course, untrimmed;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow’st,
Nor shall death brag thou wand’rest in his shade,
When in eternal lines to Time thou grow’st.
So long as men can breathe, or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.

Beautiful light :)

@helenhall That Shakespeare-ian sentence just popped into my mind as I was looking at this sea sight. What a great poet he was!

That is a really great shot and capture of what the people are doing.

@pistache Haha, yes, just what I was doubting about. But I left the person in because it made the photo look a bit more dynamic??

@pistache And I also think that leaving that person in the pic, creates a better balance?

i agree about the balance, and that was my reservation about a crop ... but i thought maybe the waves could work as balance ... anyway, interesting!

@pistache oh yeah, the waves as balance... I didn’t see that. I think that I agree with you: person out, waves okst. Thanks, Clare!! 😘👏
