Alligator on the Trail

Yesterday we all went to Magnolia Gardens and Plantation in Charleston, South Carolina. We only toured the Swamp Gardens this time. It is about a hours leisurely walk.

At a turn in the road we saw what we thought must be a dead tree branch laying on the side of the road but on closer inspection it turned out to be the biggest alligator any of us had ever seen.

We threw a few pebbles at him and finally he went back into the water so that we could proceed on our walk. (His face is covered in the green algae from the swamp water)
ACK! He's a big boy! I'm happy to be seeing him on the other end of a computer screen, not through a lens. ;-) But what a great capture!

WHOA! This is the biggest AND scariest alligator I have ever seen in my life! I'm afraid my Swamp Tour might have ended RIGHT HERE!

P.S. Suzie, this is such a GREAT capture of him. You were brave enough to hold the camera still enough to get a wonderful picture.

That is an amazing shot - I would have been running so quickly the other way it would not have been until I got miles away that I would have thought about a photo! You are very very brave!

Well, I guess one must pay close attention on this walk! How nice he posed for you though!
