This is the Angel Oak Tree on John's Island, South Carolina. It is believed to be about 350 years old. The branches just go every which way - forever! There was no way to get a picture of the whole tree!
It is gigantic, but don't you just love its character. We had one like that at a nearby park, but unfortunately it was recently damaged and it is no longer. What a shame. She's a beaut.
This tree is amazing! I love how you included the people to give a true sense of scale. The branches are so interesting, the way they grow so twisty like that. I wish I'd seen this when I was down there... my church youth group did some work with Habitat for Humanity down on John's Island years and years ago.
Wow - now that's a tree! I agree, the stories this tree could tell! Beautiful shot - love the people standing in front of this enormous tree...gives it some scale.
Oh, I love this..a fav for sure for me!!! You did such a nice job of getting so much of the tree in the picture and then added the people standing under it to give it perspective!!! Great shot, Sis!!
That tree is amazing! I've been missing your pictures, Suzie. I don't know where I've been. They're always great. I think I need to follow less people. I don't have the time to look at everyone's wonderful photos, even though I love seeing them.
I have been admiring this on popular (congrats) but had not checked it out. Going through todays posts I see it is yours. Lovely shot of a special tree.
I visited this tree when I vacationed in Charleston with my mom several years ago. We had a lovely time and this tree was a highlight. Thanks for evoking a nice memory for me.
