Pride of Barbados (Or Mexican Bird of Paradise)

Last winter I cleared out the back corner of our yard where we had previously had citrus trees that got old and died. I had a couple of volunteer plants that I was nurturing and I put in a few more. Pride of Barbados is a favorite of mine so I got a little bitty one at the nursery, planted it and as time passed I determined that, like so many of my plants, I had loved it to death. But lo and behold it somehow lived and now is flourishing even in this record hot summer. It seems to love our desert heat a lot more than I do.
Fabulous capture of this beautiful plant Suzie, love your narrative too. Hope that all your new plants adapt and grow well.
