I got a new computer this week and after I had it set up, I decided to have a slide show on it. Now when I walk up to it, there are pictures from yesterday and all the way back to my childhood. This is just one of them that I had to go find because it interested me and I didn't remember it. It was taken in Texas ten years ago. Interesting little guy.
I spent some time deciphering your picture. very interesting. fav.
Aren't the slide shows fun. Hans and I both have one. I often ask him to find me a particular picture and yes, he takes the time and finds it, puts it on a stick for me to upload. btw, I am in my eleventh year.
@bruni We have been around for a long time, haven't we? I go away and then come back again. 365 is such a pleasant place to be. And thank you for the FAV!
Hi Suzie, if you look carefully it does still have wings. They are held tight down against the body, you can just see the edge of them. They join the body by the black bits, just in front of that yellow ball. The yellow ball is a balancing organ, one on each side of the body, ( can't remember its proper name), which act like counterbalances to the wings, and helps them be so manoeuvrable. Lots of flying insects have them.
I looked very closely, it is certainly interesting. I love to photography bugs and still find new ones that I have never seen ( doing this not that long so anything is kinda new). It looks kinda like a robber fly. Good luck with trying to ID this one. Oh, and nice shot :-)
