We left Nova Scotia and took 3 days and 2 nights to reach Gloucester, Maine. The weather was good and the passage was uneventful except that we met our best Canadian friends on the radio as we all traveled together to Maine. When we reached Gloucester we finally got to meet them for real! We would continue to travel together almost every day for the next 9 months.
The second day we were in Gloucester there was a Schooner Fest and there she was - Bluenose II whom we first met in Lunenburg. It won't be the last time we see her in our travels.
Great processing on this shot! I looked at the thumbnail and it instantly reminded me of the old schooner paintings.
I'm really enjoying hearing all about your cruising adventure! My husband and I hope to get the chance to spend some time cruising someday, but I need to improve my skills a lot before then.
Suzie, as usual, your photos are amazing... this one is so beautiful. It does look like a painting. The adventures you had are right out of a book. You should write one!
So recognizable! I spotted this on the popular page, and I knew it had to be your picture! What a beauty...so sad we won't have the pleasure of seeing her sailing this summer (while she's having renovations). I made it a fave...so should ALL the Canadians...what an icon!
FYI. my daughter, Ashley's picture is on the PP, too, with Lunenburg behind her husband, John http://365project.org/lulu/365/2010-06-10 (she has another of her dad she just put up today, also.) You wondered if we golfed...looks like all the family but me.
I didn't zero in on the Bluenose II in Ashley's picture until you made comment! How fun that it comes out for a bow (no pun intended) twice in the same day!
This is beautiful - wow, what an amazing sailing boat and a lovely photograph - I've really enjoyed your pictures and stories of your Nova Scotia trip - it's somewhere I would love to go one day. We have sailed in Greece and are hoping to go again this summer...
