Nom Nom Nom

Some of the Southern California 365ers got together today in Carlsbad, and what a great time we had first taking photos at the Flower Fields and then gathering for a delicious brunch. Here's a Monarch Butterfly having a brunch of his own.
Gorgeous colors. Fav!

Can't believe you beat me to it! Today was "The Best"! What a great time all the way through. Your photo is a knock-out...I got a couple that were good and about 20 that were a straight shot up the back of his wings... THANK YOU for the use of the macro lens! LOVE it! Am very very happy with all my pictures tonight! (Thanks to you and John, too, Anita! Great time!!! @aglennc )

@thirdjoe @stray_shooter So I can expect the two of you to come roaring into town on the Harley's? Give me a moment's advance notice and I'll warn the locals!

Super beautiful! Love it.

@Weezilou I would really like to come to OC and visit sometime. We will have work that out with Ron.
April 13th, 2015
Gorgeous butterfly portrait, Ron. The oranges of both the flowers and the butterfly's wings is gorgeous against that bokehed background.
April 13th, 2015
Amazing Ron! Like stained glass. Big fav! Congrats on the PP!

TA DA! *POPULAR PAGE* ... Yea You! It's a beauty and totally deserving... glad to see this rise to the top :)
@thirdjoe I'd LOVE to have everyone come up...nowhere near as charming as SD, though it just takes a little more ferreting out! What's of interest? Ron may be away more than he's home for a bit, but keep in touch, make any suggestion and let's work something out! And bring along the pretty lady...@joysfocus

(I wrote a big "*YEA*" for you...delighted, but not surprised... I think I forgot to hit the "post comment" icon!) @thirdjoe I'd love to have you to north to see us, though OC is so spread out, it's not as easy to find as many charming areas as SD. Still, pick a place and bring that pretty lady along with you :) @joysfocus

This is definitely FAV worthy, and so wonderfully captured! Sorry I missed that part....great shot! And, this butterfly sure looks like it probably ate as much as we did at that brunch! It was really great to finally meet you!

Nice shot of the flutterby Ron.
April 14th, 2015
Spectacular colors you caught. So cool the way the color of the flowers matches the butterfly's wings!
April 14th, 2015
Это великолепно! Вы были в Европе? или я не поняла...Как хорошо собираться вместе и заниматься любимым делом

@judyc57 @tigerdreamer @dailypix @ayyattt Thanks so much for your comments. Very much appreciated. :-)

@aglennc Thanks Anita - yes, definitely worth the trip to the Flower Fields. Although they seemed a bit thin this year we all managed to salvage some decent photos out of the slim opportunities. Glad to see that John weighed in too - I'm truly honored. Looking forward to wild animals in a month!
April 16th, 2015
@Weezilou Thank you kindly, Louise, and thanks to all who helped get my shot on PP. We both were fortunate that this guy stood still for us for a bit. Doesn't seem to happen often!
April 16th, 2015
@summerfield Deliciously wonderful?!? Why, I believe that's about the highest compliment one can get! Thanks, Vikki - really appreciate your words.
April 16th, 2015
@thirdjoe Hey, thanks Joe, it was super meeting you - I know we'll have many more experience together - maybe even some with cameras!
April 16th, 2015
@888rachel Hey, thanks for weighing in and commenting Rachel. I know you are busy yourself, so that means a lot to me.
April 16th, 2015
@lyndemc Ah, coming from you, Denise, I am warm and fuzzy all over. I'm tickled that you like it and fav'd it. Now I feel I have to top this!
April 16th, 2015
@joysfocus You and Karen both mentioned the stained glass aspect. Funny, that never occurred to me.....but now that you mention it - yeah, it does have that look! Of course Mother Nature gets the credit. ;-) Thanks for your encouraging words.
April 16th, 2015
@pcoulson Thank you Peter! I think that's only me second or third PP. What a thrill! Just proves that even blind squirrels find an acorn or two now and then.
April 16th, 2015
@soboy5 @jbd1962 Thank you Danny, thank you Jonathan. Good to hear from those outside the norm on occasion. I'm honored!
April 16th, 2015
@clake Thanks Caroline, I wish I could take credit for aligning colors, but we must pay tribute to the butterfly who presented the opportunity. I do appreciate the input though!
April 16th, 2015
@panthora LOL! Yeah, that dude was chowing down on that flower. Maybe subconsciously he was prodding us to stuff ourselves! Thanks so much for the fav, Osia. Old hat for you, but a thrill for me to make PP.
April 16th, 2015
@terryliv Thanks, Terry. I heard from a reliable source that they were supposed to be flutterbyes, but somebody screwed that up.
April 16th, 2015
@cjphoto Thanks, Chris, wish I could take credit for the colors matching up, but that was in someone else's hands. You being somewhat local will have to join us some time down south way here. Would love to see what you could do with some of this material.
