My inexplicable fascination with flamingos has resulted in a collection of images that are clogging my "candidates" folder. I now have no choice but to share with the 365 community my shots that I will blessedly restrict to Flamingo Fridays. Here's a guy that I captured at the San Diego Zoo, which happens to be celebrating its 100th birthday this year!
Maybe we'll have to have a photo shoot at the zoo one of these days. This guy is so statuesque appearing.. Great capture. Looking forward to your Flamingo Friday photos. Suggested word some month -- Flamingo??

For a moment I thought, "...but where is his little counterpart"? I see this is yesterday...so WHAT will you b e posting tonight?! (And whats not to be fascinated with? They're gorgeous and graceful with undulating long necks! Couldn't we ALL watch them for hours?!)
@pcoulson Thanks for noticing the framing Peter. I have to admit to adding that to dress up the photo a bit. It's surprising what a little subtle accenting can do.
@maggiemae Ha ha, yes, the zoo is 100 years old. I'm pretty sure this guy is a little younger than this.....although I did discover that they can live for up to 50 years in such an environment. I wonder if they get more pink as they age?

@Weezilou Sadly, the little counterpart didn't quite work out yesterday. Wrong lenses, wrong focal length, etc. However, when I took this shot, down at the zoo, I did succeed in some of the intended effects. I'm sure one of my Flamingo Fridays will feature the little guy(s).

@joysfocus The requirements for Flamingo Friday are quite strict - you must post a photo of a Flamingo.....on a Friday. Can't wait to see what you treat us to!
