Try Me by stray_shooter

Try Me

This guy was greeting those of us who got together with some of the Southern California 365ers at the SD Wild Animal Park. This colorful boy is a Himalayan chicken or something like that. I think by the time I got this shot he had tired of all of the camaras clicking away in his face.
As you said, it's written all over his beautiful face! How funny that we read captions into these beleaguered critters! This one's gorgeous, Ron!

Wonderful colours

Great POV. This guy was definitely colorful, wasn't he? Was this with your biggie lens? Fun time yesterday!!!

Great capture of a beautiful bird!

Looks as if he is giving you the evil eye. Beautiful bird

@terryliv Ugh! I may have to rethink that visit to your fair city, my friend. And I was reminded by @joysfocus that it wasn't a chicken, it's a monal. Apparently monal is Himalayan for chicken.

I've seen several photos of your meet up at the zoo! Sounds like you guys had a great time! And the shots are unbelievable!
January 18th, 2016
Stunning colour, focus and pose, looks just right with your narrow depth of field Ron:)
January 18th, 2016
Love his colours :)
January 18th, 2016
Absolutely fabulous, definitely got attitude.
January 18th, 2016
@stray_shooter Hahaha! You're killing me Ron. He's not a chicken. He's a pheasant and I'm glad you didn't call him a chicken to his face. He probably would have gone for your lens.

P.S. Fav!

Colorful bird with attitude! Great capture Ron!
January 18th, 2016

January 18th, 2016
Is this a peacock? His face is so puffy!!! Haha makes me laugh so much!
January 19th, 2016
Wow, a chicken? He looks so pretty, I love the colours.
January 19th, 2016
@Weezilou I don't recall him looking quite that perturbed when we were shooting him, but the photo says otherwise! Thanks Louise!
January 19th, 2016
@winshez Hey, thanks Sherrill - and thanks for the fav too!
January 19th, 2016
@damfino Thanks Egle! It was great meeting you and putting a face to a name. I hope I didn't cause you to spend more money on a new lens! I took a few with yours when we traded and they came out very well - you already have a very good lens.
January 19th, 2016
@kandie Thanks so much Kandie!

@summerfield Vikki, anything in that place can be fried - or barbequed. We did, in fact, head out for barbeque immediately after the gathering. I trust our fare came from Arkansas.
January 19th, 2016
@salza Thanks Sally, this one was blessed with great beauty. And he knew it!
January 19th, 2016
@aglennc I believe this was taken with the biggie, Anita. Now that I think about it, he was a little close, and I'm a bit surprised that the depth of field worked as it did.
January 19th, 2016
@pamknowler Thank you kindly Pam.
January 19th, 2016
@deliad He was definitely giving me the evil eye. Everyone else got a smile! Thanks for stopping by to comment!
January 19th, 2016
@dianen Thanks Diane, yes, it was definitely a good time. Very good folks among that group. Hope you enjoyed everyone's contributions.
January 19th, 2016
@pcoulson Thanks Peter, as I was saying to Anita, this was using the 150-600mm zoom, and I'm a bit surprised, given how close he was, that I got such narrow depth of field. Guess I didn't need the macro for this shoot!
January 19th, 2016
@gilbertwood Thanks Denise, you're only seeing part of him. Some of the others have posted full shots of this guy, and his colors are great throughout his entire body. Never seen anything like it.
January 19th, 2016
@onewing Thanks Babs, yes attitude - that's a perfect description!
January 19th, 2016
@joysfocus Thanks for the clarification Joy. He wouldn't be the first bird at that spot to go for my lens!
January 19th, 2016
@redy4et Thanks Elizabeth. I'd love to have seen what you would have done with him. Next time!
January 19th, 2016
@sakphotography Thanks Shaheed. First time for me too!
January 19th, 2016
@cjphoto He is pretty strange looking, isn't he? Joy reminded me that he's a type of pheasant. Not too far from a peacock!
January 19th, 2016
@888rachel Not a chicken I've been reminded, Rachel, but a monal. And since I don't know what a monal is, consider his a pheasant. Looks like a chicken to me.
January 19th, 2016
Brilliant colours Ron!!!
January 19th, 2016
I like the way he's looking to you and the colours
