Big Air

Time for a little action photography. The kids at this skate board park have some impressive skills!

What I learned in taking this photo: Shutter priority is a must for stop action and a lens speed of no less than 1/1000 is required to freeze the subject. And continuous autofocus is pretty much mandatory too.

What I also learned: I could never and have never had the athleticism to pull off such a move.
Fabulous action shot!

So, Tony Hawk, you're not?! This is a great shot, nice to read your technical comments, too!

Great action. Skateboarders etc seem fearless. No way I could do what they do.

Michael Jackson is alive and well and is as athletic as ever! That's impressive enough, but I'm super super impressed with your photo skills and sharing the information! *I* have found that upping the ISO for an action shot in the shade doesn't make for a very crisp photo...bright sun seems to help greatly!

@joysfocus @louannwarren @salza @Weezilou @terryliv @redy4et @rookynook @jorlam @pixiemac @dianen @onewing @bkbinthecity @moviegal1 @taffy @pcoulson @pickerandagrinner @lyndemc My sincere gratitude to all of you for the comments favs and nice words. Also good to see that people are paying attention to my ISO settings. Yes, I'm slowly learning that it's OK to come off of ISO 100. Action shots use to be all that I did, shooting sports for the most part. Taking this made me realize how much I "missed the action." ;-)

A great action shot! You stopped it at the right spot to catch the concentration on his face.
