This pelican must have been pretty hungry if he was trying to eat me. Or possibly there was a delicious looking fish between the two of us. I didn't stick around to find out - he scared the crap out of me.
Very intimidating pose Ron you did well to stand your ground, wonderful light, detail and composition, did you know " 'A wonderful bird is the Pelican, his beak can hold more than his belly can" :)
@gigiflower Thanks Sam, glad Poppo keyed you in. So you're a pelican guy, huh? I have to admit to being a flamingo fan. May have to add pelicans to that list of fetishes.
@pcoulson Thanks so much Peter. :) Are you reciting an old nursery rhyme there? I like it. I discovered when trying to ID this guy that they can scoop up a whole pouch full of water and then it will drain out taking sometimes a whole minute. Cool stuff!
@tunia Hi Tunia, yes, that's one crazy looking bird, huh? It's a little deceiving, but what look like arms are the leading edges of his wings. He would flap his wings to propel himself forward to grab his fish. The shot caught him just beginning to flap.
