A little alien

Amazing how a bit of sun can make you realise how unkempt your garden is. We drastically pruned the buddleia today. Probably not the best time to hack it down but it grows like a weed, it'll be taking over again real soon. This little critter must have got displaced. He hitched a lift on my husbands tshirt and was encouraged to walk onto a chopped off bit of buddleia which I then put down on the arm of our garden bench - so I'm claiming this as my 'bench' shot for todays June word! Lol. Macro lens, hand held, natural light, and as always it was windy, flapping the leaf about all over the place. I think he's a shield bug. He happily wandered around the leaf and branch stopping to pose for me every now and then. Gotta love his eyes, looking at them 1:1 in Lightroom I can see they are compound like a flies eye. Gotta love the macro lens too, it teaches me things ;-)
Fantastic shot! I love shield bugs and I've never seen one in this much detail!

He's lovely! FAV my little Dottie found her first one of these today, and the 8 year old bug fear kicked in. I named him George and tried to get her to make friends but it didn't work!!

All those spots - you probably don't notice them until you see them in macro! You did very well with the focus on this one - he has brown shoes on, too!

@roachling I think they are quite cute. @nicolaeastwood Aww show her this one and the one I just put in my also album, let her see how lovely their wings are maybe they will grow on her. @maggiemae Absolutely. The macro shows us things we can't see, I didn't know they had spots.
