sixty-one

thought i'd disguise myself as a maharani. i always admired those ladies who go about their daily lives wearing their native costumes which are so sparkly and colourful. i went to this place near the beaches, three or four blocks of indian or south asian commerce, from food to dry goods. it was quite an experience to go to each shop.

a co-worker gave me some real bindi to stick on my forehead - i think she felt bad that i was planning on using some red seals we use for documents because i didn't know where to procure those. i enjoy playing dress up sometimes for my project. it's almost like acting and dressing up is one way of getting into character. acting is quite fun; i used to act in plays when i was in college. my favourite role was "portia" in the merchant of venice.

today, the only problem was that those darn earrings were so heavy i thought they'd tear my earlobes. there was a sale last week at an accessories shop and i might have gone a tad crazy buying costume jewelry. just a tad. :-)

for the five plus two theme this week, disguise.

I tried to wear earrings for a while but they just hurt my ears to much and since I'm deathly afraid of needles, pierced ears was out of the question! You have played your role well and you look great!!

Pretty in Pink, and I am totally ga-ga over that peacock ring..

@cheribug - i'd give it to you if it is mine, unfortunately it isn't. the headdress and the earrings are mine, but the rest of what you see, including the peacock ring belong to the young lady who poses for me once in a while. i'm starting to build up my 'inventory' of blings and if i come across this i'll be sure to get you one. :-) thank you, my cheribug.

The whole ensemble is beautiful. It is a shame I am one who does NOT accessorize. just a single ring and small hoop earrings. Might have to consider starting an inventory seeing as how you never know when it is kosher to bling yourself out..
July 22nd, 2014
@cheribug - heck, i don't ever bling especially accessories like these, but when i'm borrowing i'm actually at time's mercy plus i don't want to impose every so often. but if you're having to shoot portraits, you might want to have some props, may come in handy, you'll never know. btw, thanks for the fav, you're so sweet!
