charles @zosimasy my partner this week challenged me to do motion blur as per the current camera settings challenge.
this is one of my kryptonites, the technical side of photography. in the middle of the photograph is a special edition of the canadian quarter coin, honouring its women's hockey team who captured gold during the 2002 winter olympics. the four insets are captures of the same quarter coin in different exposure times.
what i learned: even with the constant lighting, the f stop changes as the coin turns. it is difficult to do this without another person doing the spinning of the coin. so that i almost always got the coin just as it was winding down. in my haste to capture the motion, i banged my already sore knee on the stupid tripod; it freaking hurt!
@northy - hmmm.... why didn't i think of that? but it wouldn't take multiple shots if the timer is set. am i sure? why don't i go and try it. :-P hold your horses!
@bill_fe - i have a remote timer/multi-shutter for both my canon and nikon. i just have to figure out how to use it aside from doing the darn remote selfie shots. :-P
@summerfield Ah, I see. I just looked up another one too. I have a Vello Shutterboss that works via RF wireless. If all else fails, read the manual. :-P
Very cool motion capture. Are you using full manual mode to take these? If not I did wonder whether it would make a difference to the final outcome. I'm sure you should be able to use the remote shutter release in manual mode. Just my pennies worth and probably totally worthless.
Sorry about your knee :(
