week 10 of the 52-week challenge. this time the category is vision, the assignment, selective colouring.
at the office's servery yesterday, i saw a big bowl of lemons and i told the catering manager i wished to shoot it as i needed a yellow photograph. this morning she called me and asked me to come up and shoot the lemons already before the floor gets busy. i was quite amused that she actually set this up and added, to my utter delight, the chef's knife with a yellow handle. how cool is that!
so it was a no-brainer that the knife's handle would remain yellow. the dilemma are the lemons. do i only select half the bowl of lemons, or select one in either ends of the bowl and one in the centre. although i didn't try to see what that would actually look like that way, i decided a couple of lemons together would be more pleasing, visually. like this one.
the lemons looked weird in stark black and white so i slid the desaturator a tad bit to give them a little colour. they are still weird!
Nice composition and a great use of SC. I think it would have more impact if the lemons had been full on B&W but what do I know?! The knife handle is a great added touch!
This is an interesting take on the use of selective colour. It is a job well done, although I am not sure what to make of the drained looking ones. I'm certainly going to pick the yellow ones from the bowl for my cooking.
