i swung by my old haunt, the beaches, this afternoon hoping it wouldn't be so crowded, as all the places i went to had a festival going on and people traffic was just horrendous. i don't know, but at some point in my life, i had developed an aversion to crowded places.

we had another beautiful weather today, still hot but bearable and it helped that i went out as the temperature had gone down a little bit. by the lake, the breeze was wonderful and the sound of the waves was really soothing. a couple of big dogs sandwiched me whilst i was at the end of one of the piers. they just sat there on either side of me, their heads turning whenever i'd swing the camera. they stunk, as dogs playing in the sun then getting wet do. when i told them they both stunk to high heavens, they stood up and walked back to their owners, who were rather amused when i told them later on that i am horribly afraid of dogs. they said, it didn't seem so, as all the time the two mutts were beside me, they could see i was talking to them. believe you me, i sooooo wanted to run as fast as i could, but i knew it wouldn't have been a wise move.

today's composition assignment from emma davies is 'pattern'. this building is part of the harris water filtration plant building at the beaches. the building's arched mullioned windows are the same all throughout, in this building and in the bigger building not shown here but situated on the upper slope to my left.

that building seems like giving us the bird, n'est-ce pas?

tagging this also for the current artist challenge. this is a combination of franco fontana's urban landscape and land and seascape work.
I’m with you about crowded places... and I like this image a lot!

good strong lines angles and blocks of colour. I guess that defines the style of Franco Fontana? Well spotted on the pattern front too. I can sympathise with your story on the dogs. I would be much the same - trying to put on a false bravado whilst all the time being afraid and desperately hoping the owners would show up and take them away so that I could go past.

Marvelous architecture. Seems straight out of “Atlas Shrugged” .

Another brilliant response to the artist challenge. Lots of pattern in it for your other challenge as well. The golden hour light really magnifies the color of the building and the POV definitely makes it look like the building is giving us the bird!

Beautiful golden hour photo showing beautiful patterns and composition. I agree with @30pics4jackiesdiamond . You spoke to them in their lsnguage. Maybe their owners had told them that before.

I like the bold feel to the architecture.

I see at least two patterns that repeat; the blocks and the arches.

Hahaha!! I hadn't thought of that interpretation Vikki, but you're right. I'm with you on crowds, can't stand them any more, I need my space.
