everything in that big park behind our building is dull and drab. of course it didn't help that we had an overcast sky the whole day.
the magnolias are starting to bud but they're dull looking. next to it is this holly plant and it's the only thing lively enough in the snow covered grounds. plus i was looking at my album and i decided it needed some colours. so holly's in, drab is out.and one for the camera settings challenge.
thank you for your visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
Isn't this beautiful ... yes, that red pops right out of the photo!! I love how you framed this, summerfield. You brightened up my day. I understand all about the lighting on a gray day. Very difficult to work with. Are you still thinking about a Canon? I am.
Very nice shot and framing! (The birds have eaten practically all the holly berries here very early. Somebody told me it was because there was not much insect life for them because of the bad summer.
@karenann - glad i could brighten your day in some way, my friend. thank you for the kind words. and yes, still thinking about the canon, but i may have to defer it for a few weeks as i'm on the verge of ordering a KM bag which hopefully will be the end of my search for that perfect camera bag. i have such shallow concerns, haven't i? but i have a schedule to meet with a gallery owner and i want to at least look impressive even if my photos aren't. ;-) thank you, KA.
@catsmeowb - loads of thank you, camille. i do need the 'good luck', lots of it! :-)
@fullcircle - thank you, cindy. no, the camera was just inches away from the bush. the framing is called 'mirror frame' from ribbet. it does look like it's through a window, doesn't it?
@eniaral - thank you, laraine. mirror frame from ribbet. i believe ipiccy and picmonkey have that same feature, too.

@quietpurplehaze - true, not enough insects. last summer was the only summer that i didn't have any bug bite at all. yay! thank you, hazel.
@abhijit - thank you, ab.
