we have this seventeen-year old girl helping us at the house in manila. she's fresh from the province, stopped schooling looking for work. she readily agreed to work for us for the month bff and i are here.
it breaks my heart every time i see situations like this. a young girl coming to the big city, not finishing school trying to find a job as help in the hope that she would earn enough to help her family who lives in the province and at the same time save money so she can finish school. unless she finds a kind soul who would employ and send her to school at the same time, the dream would never materialize and the hope would turn into despair. if i was living here, i surely would take up that cause..
i look at this girl and i see innocence in her eyes and the way she speaks and moves. tell me, did i capture it or not?
this may be my last posting until after i arrive back in toronto. then try and catch up on everyone's albums when i am back. but for now, i thank you for your kind visits and comments, you know that i greatly appreciate them.
I had to fav this, not only for the wonderful detail and clarity in the shot. but such a powerful message it brings. The shot is amazing. As for you not posting again, you do not mean forever right? I for one would miss your shots and humor.
I see a sadness yet hope; I see her innocence and her hope; I feel her dreams and her wishes for her family.
It is an awesome story telling shot Vikki, safe journey home:0)
Beautiful portrait...looks to me of a young lady deep in thought with a bit of tenseness, perhaps uncertainty, in her facial expression. I hope for the best for her and that she finds work that also enables her to get her education.
@sarasdadandmom - no, terry. just until i get back to canada because our internet connection may expire before we leave here. hah! hard to get rid of me, my good friend. i'm here to bugger you forever!!! :-)
