today, i finally got to meet ann lefevre @olivetreeann, one of my very first friends here on 365. she crossed the rainbow bridge to get to the canadian side so we could meet and to see niagara falls. goodness, we had so much to talk about, it felt like we were old friends. in a sense we are, i guess. of course we went around and took some photos, and her quick artist eyes found a gate with rusts! then when it was time to go home, i walked with her to almost the middle of the bridge and we took more photos of both falls, after which i walked back to catch my train to go back to toronto. it was not a good photo day because it had been pissing rain all day, and yet i still managed about 300 shots. eek!
and can i tell you ann has beautiful blue eyes?
in any case, went up to one of the lookouts even though my knees were going to disown me and that was where i took this shot from. this is one of the former "maid of the mist" boats, now called "hornblower" (maid of the mist having been sold to the americans) which ferries tourists around the niagara river and the bottom of both the american and canadian falls. this one was ferrying tourists from the canadian side and the falls in the background is part of the american falls.
today's bill for the one night stand challenge is 'transportation'.

Great shot! Coincidentally, I just posted a collage for the transportation theme and In it I have one photo of the Maid of the Mist (not a good as this one) that I took when I visited last Spring. We all wore blue raincoats on my voyage in the pouring rain!
I know Ann @olivetreeann and am pleased that you got together! Love to see her photos as I do yours! This must have been hard to shoot with all that fine spray! What does the camera focus on. Its has to be a fav for me to see this spectacle photographed so well!

Yours is so nice and clear compared to most of mine (with the exception of the one I posted!). The red one though was the boat from the Canadian side- I forget it's name though- it's not Maid of the Mist even though it's the same trip in and out. Had to "laugh" about your knees- mine were screaming at me all night! And thank you for the compliment on my eyes!
@olivetreeann - the canadian boats are also called 'maid of the mist'; and i think both sides own the naming rights to 'maid of the mist'. or probably just one company owning the boats and plying both sides.
@northy - we should plan an excursion. we can do selfies in the middle of the bridge! :-)
@maggiemae - i focused on the boat but since the camera was set to multi-focus the dof wasn't shallow. (i think that's the right term and right explanation.)
