roasted seaweed, anyone? by summerfield

roasted seaweed, anyone?

see, it is hard to change old people's habits. take me, for example. my get pushed partner @mei_photography this week challenged me to "a photograph of unusual material". that's okay by me. so today, i was thinking about it and i thought 'what did she mean unusual material?' did she mean material as in material or material as in a subject or object? and as i had been since the good Lord created me, i just go ahead and do my interpretation of 'unusual material' without clarifying exactly what it means. i'm blubbering, am i not? tee-hee!

in any case, all day i was thinking about this challenge and i thought maybe i should ask for a clarification. but then, i had a eureka moment: i had a taste for my favourite snack which i have not had for quite a while. it's roasted seaweed. if you know and eat japanese or korean food, you'd be familiar with this, only these are saturated in fat and salt then baked to a certain papery crispiness, and oh, boy! aren't they delicious!

looking at the individual "sheets" i thought this would be unusual for people who are not familiar with japanese or korean food. so unless you are in korea or in japan, i'd think this would be something unusual.

well, if this is not what she meant, at least i had a good time eating my subject. what could be better than that?

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
@mei_photography - here's my response to your challenge. if this is not what you meant, please let me know. thanks.

Well you and Melody would get along great as she has a tendency to babble on like that as well LOL. Seriously though well done on this one and thanks for sharing this as it has introduced me to something I have never had but I am thinking I will need to try it sometime

It's funny how addicting thee can be. I just looked at your picture and now I need to get some out of my pantry, which hasn't been without them in a couple years.

bahaaa! i'm on your side... there are no "rules" other than the ones you make... your interpretation of the challenge does not determine whether you'll get a raise or get fired and the only person you can let down is yourself... interpret however you like ;p

i think this was a brilliant choice by the way, and the image came out awesome!

Seriously, these are my favorite snacks, too! They can be messy, though, if you are not careful.....love the way you are handling it!
