"august, die she must
the autumn winds blow chilly and cold
september, i'll remember
the love once new has now grown old"
-paul simon, composer
this is part of what was once the flower spire of a yucca plant. the spire stood tall against the other garden plants, taking in the warm sunshine of a rather whimsy september morning. these pods looked like birds af first glance looking skyward, then you look closely and it seemed like it has eyes that plead for summer not to end, like we do once that chill has settled and old winter becomes inevitable. it's so unbeautiful that you wouldn't want to look at it. but it's there, and all at once it becomes a welcome sight, for you know that the seeds that might have fallen from it will grow once the cold has passed. and then we know it will be spring again.
for my get pushed challenge, kathy boyles challenged me to put in an entry for the EOTB or eye of the beholder challenge.
Aw, summer. I love you so. Such a fun time we had. But fall and I are cozy, too. Off to enjoy all things pumpkin, gorgeous crunchy colors and a crackling fire. Great shot!!!
