i am a very inept photographer. in fact i should not even call myself photographer. since i am just a photography hobbyist, i should be a photographist.
i brought my tripod with me. but i forgot the thingamabob that you attach the camera to, because i used it last night with my other camera. duh! so the camera was precariously sitting on the tripod.
i brought with me my remote shutter, but it had no batteries. because i actualy remove the batteries when i put them away, and this afternoon i just grabbed it on my way out, like an afterthought.
i used the camera at my grandsons' going away party. i hate using flash so i upped my ISO to 1600. and of course i promptly forgot to reset the darn ISO after.
i'm worse than inspector jacques clouseau. hahaha! at least i chose a quiet side street to do my night shot.
this is my 'selfie' post for the one night stand challenge. tagging this also for the noir theme.
thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that i appreciate them a lot.
Simply superb! To pull this out if the hat despite all that was against you is simply brilliant! The atmosphere is mysterious and the lighting brings it's own nuance. Well done my friend!
incredibly clever concept and execution! i think you ARE a photographer. a hobbyist would never have been able to come up with such an excellent image after all those odds! FAV
I do stuff like that too!!! I also take batteries out of remote because if you do not it will be dead next once in a blue moon you need it. Did you balance your camera and run to get in the pic? Weren't you across it would fall off?! Any hoo You did so much RIGHT here though!!!! The composition and contests- marvelous! Those lights trailing I to the distance and your costume... Wow!!!! I live it for noir theme! Fav
@losthorizon - oh, wow! coming from one of the stars of 365, i will take it! thank you, beau.
@northy - i think i accidentally channeled my inner northy for this. but of course, i was wearing the coat, the boots and the hat. i learned from one o the best, hey! thank you, kiddo.
@kwind - whew! glad it wasn't just me! thank you, kim.
@altadc - you know me, dramatic! :-D thank you, alta.
@sarasdadandmom - thank you, officer. and just to let you know, one of your comrades came by in his bike, stopped and shook his head when he saw me trying to get a selfie. i thought i'd be nabbed for something or other!
@k1w1 - why, thank you, chris. and just to remind you i am from days gone by! :-D
@bill_fe - thank you, my friend. the 'northyistic' was accidental but as i told northy above, i learned from the best.
@jadedaniel - i had to adjust my camera's wrist strap so i could latch it to the tripod's protruding nuts and locks so it wouldn't slide off and fall. my "costume" is my long winter coat and bowler hat. thank you, jade.
Wow, you are far to hard on yourself! This is a great shot, especially since you didn't have all of the equipment you needed. I saw this on the Trending Page. Congratulations. Fav! By the way, you are a photographer.
It's really a fabulously atmospheric shot, and full of noir mood! And I love that I'm not the only one who has difficulty getting all those ducks in order before taking a tripod shot! Well done, despite the missing pieces!
OMG! Vicki! This is super for the theme and just great work in general! I was so busy trying to figure out yours/Katy's nails pic I missed this work of art! This should be in Theme-Noir finalists! Fav! It should have way more than 19 favs too, btw.
@espyetta - hahahaha! you are so funny, MB. and it's still here so you didn't miss anything. just glad you like it and fav it, it's more than enough for me. thank you, MB.
I KNEW this would get in the final five for the theme! Congrats! This makes up for Katy stealing your pic of Nails for the other contest "What's in your hand" and getting finalist with it. Hee hee Of course you have my vote. Great photo
@espyetta - competing with beau, northy and a kid, i stand no chance! just chuffed it made the final 5. that's more exciting for me. thank you, MB. :-)
you make me laugh Vikki and you remind me of Paul - he would always spout about his shortcomings as a photography - I would say to him you silly man it is a beautiful photo - so silly lady - you get my drift - well done!
