the big window by summerfield

the big window

this is the big window on the west end of our union station building, the renovation of which is almost complete. well, perhaps, as the ugly tarp that covered the building for more than forever has now been taken off. methinks it's the inside part now that's being renovated.

i have me a lunchtime photo buddy. @moniquenadeau was one of the two young ladies at the office who recruited me in 2011 to join the 365 project but they left by the fourth month. monique is a writer and i've been kicking her ass to finish off her first novel (with a little bit of success on my part, but it will soon be finished and hopefully published). you might want to give her album a visit and give a bit of boost so she'll stay long (or forever) this time around, at least to get to the 365 mark.

in any case, we walked within the parametres of our office building and union station is just across the street. it was a delight to see the big windows all uncovered and i had the chance to catch some walking silhouettes. we found out that one needs to be in possession of a passcard i.e. an employee, to get to the walkways. so i tried to wait for some gentle soul to pass. this is my best shot for now. i will make it perhaps a regular ritual to go there and get a better capture. the problem this time is there is an exhibition going on in the concourse of the station with tall and ugly makeshift booths that obstruct the full length view of the large windows.

i have a shot for this week's mad hatters' "storyteller" theme. http://365project.org/summerfield/365-again/2015-01-20 check it out!

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
@northy - the tarp's been taken down around the union station building. i shall check out tomorrow how it is at night.

Nice and moody! I envy you guys' ability to take a lunch break/walk and take pics and talk adult talk. I am with kids ALL DAY LONG. IN two years when I get another job and have retired from teaching, I will be glad for a lunch break. Anyway, nice shot!

@espyetta - MB, you have an enviable job, too, of enriching the minds of the future leaders of the next generations - it's a noble job. i just work in a lawfirm.

most excellent... of course, i no longer have lunch breaks... and when i do, i am up at yonge and st clair - too far to get to union from there and back :( i do have an absurd number of vacation days i have to burn thru this year, so maybe if we could plan ahead, i could take a day off and meet you over lunch then... not that this will ever happen because in addition to having an absurd number of days i have to take off, i also have an absurd amount of work... which i should be doing right now... but i'm not...

@summerfield all jobs are necessary. I do live the learning and the working with the kids! But I get to do less of that each year. I will miss a lot of it.

Great shot. Love the figure walking along

It's somewhat haunting, as though the figure is behind a veil on the Other Side.

What a splendid place to have at your fingertips! I look forward to future shots!

This feels really poignant to me, the figure is so isolated.
