i love skeleton keys. whenever i go to antique markets i am always on the lookout for skeleton keys. i find them mysteriously romantic. until recently, i have a collection of skeleton keys but now i can't find them. i'm pretty sure it's in one of my secret stashes that i have hidden so carefully now i forgot where they actually are. so i am slowly building it up again. when i see one, i don't just buy it. it has to really catch my eye or do something to my psyche for me to want to buy it and keep it. it's like a dress or a pair of shoes; you just know it's for you.
in my head, i have had this image of a skeleton key dangling from a red ribbon, from reading the early drafts of monique's @moniquenadeau manuscript of the novel she's been working on for decades now. okay, not decades, years since i started kicking her butt and i seriously think she needs more kick in the butt to finish the darn novel. who's with me?
thank you, kind folks, for your visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated. and yet again, you put my red tintinnabulating bell from yesterday's post on to pp. special thank you to you, you awesome, awesome people!
There was a movie called Skeleton Keys and I had to watch it! Based down on the Florida Keys and it had all I liked! Another one too, which was based on a 'key' and I would like to watch this one if it wasn't too bloodthirsty or ghostly!
I had a huge collection as a kid - and also don't know what happened to them. They are full of promise and mystery, and this photo stresses it with the low light.
Kick duly noted. And well-deserved. I like the red ribbon on your key; red being my favourite colour, of course.
Although I am working over the holidays, I will have some time to work on "Madison's Avenue". I am determined to finish it this year. We will chat about a schedule. Thank you for kicking me, my friend.
Miss V - Do you provide b-kicking services at large? I've got multiple projects that could use some b-kicking.
I have that same feeling when I see fake fruit at flea markets. I try to resist however.
@summerfield This piece is deleted from the book. It's actually the key scene (not to be confused with a key scene). See the play on words there? @bill_fe
What a lovely key and imagine .... I bought a skeleton key in New Mexico that will one day be the main character in a photo. That is if I don't put it in a safe place to never be found again.
Love the red against the black with the pop of gold. Excellent shot! I like old keys too and have a bunch of them in a basket in my dining room. Strange décor for the dining room- but that's me.
Love the red ribbon...very effective against the dark background! Intrigued by skeleton keys.....I am assuming they are keys that have lost their locks?!

This is a gorgeous composition! I like the close-up detail you have captured, the composition and reflections and the simplicity of the subject!

I think I may have read an excerpt some time back.
