let it snow! let it snow! by summerfield

let it snow! let it snow!

whilst waiting for the bus, i was wondering what i could do for a landscape shot for the 52-week challenge (this week the challenge is traditional landscape - here's the link: http://dogwood.photography/52weekchallenge.html ). it being winter and with lots of snow and ice everywhere, my best bet is to walk a bit further to the beaches, freeze my ass off and get nothing but a running dog against the haze of the snow squall. not a bad idea if i wasn't going to work.

so as i watched the snow fall, waiting for that bus that didn't seem to be coming for ages, the townhouses beyond slowly faded from view. it's a good landscape if any. so i took out my camera, people behind me snorting, and i took a few shots when this little red car sped into view. actually it slipped after i pressed the shutter but righted itself tout de suite as we gasped at what would've been a disaster as a pick up truck was speeding behind him.

so there we have it, my landscape to fulfil the challenge of the week. i hope to be able to go somewhere other than my stinky apartment at some point this week to capture a more appealing landscape.

update on my apartment problem: the public health inspector was supposed to show up at the apartment between 9 and 11 but never showed up. i know they would use the weather as an excuse but i have not heard anything at all.

i braved the snow again tonight to go to the rental office of a high rise northeast of toronto and i paid my earnest money. i hope to hear from them today to say i actually got the apartment for occupancy in march.

i have to stay at the hotel until i leave on the evening of the 26th of january. then my problem would be when i come back from manila on the 26th of february, where am i to stay for the 10 days before i get occupancy of my apartment? i tell you, i would not wish this thing on anyone. it is a lot of hassle and really quite depressing.

thank you for your kind visits and comments; know that they are greatly appreciated.
A great wintery landscape!

Great pop of colour! Think you should also tag for the urban theme. Hope your apartment saga can be resolved soon xx

A wonderful winter landscape scene! We definitely get a sense of the cold from it!

I hate you are having to struggle with the apartment especially at this time of year! You are amazing to deal with that AND winter AND a long distance trip AND work!

Nice urban landscape and a nice story to it. Good luck braving all that trouble with the apartment! I hope there will be a day in the future where all that will turn into yet another funny story to tell. Until then - all the best!

This could be selective colour but I think it might be entirely natural!

@maggiemae - no, not selective colour, maggiemae. it only looks like it because of the drabness and the car's colour pops out as a result. thank you.

Snow, snow everywhere! Awesome shot of the red car against the snow. Bummer on the inspector not showing up, really hope things get worked out.

Wow, that's a lot of tags for this one. I do believe the apartment situation was a blessing in disguise.

Love the scene. Thanks for sharing the story.

That looks incredibly COLD and GRAY! Methinks it's not your favourite time of year either...hence the travel plans! Just be sure to have a safe destination! It's a crazy world out there!

Oooh, this really spells out harsh midwinter and cold brilliantly!

Yeah, a lack of home is indeed depressing. I think the city weather is mirroring your emotion here in a sort of Shakespearean way... The detail of the car slipping just after the photo even contributes to the story. On the bright side, I think you got the "traditional" landscape elements... and it's all cloud.
