that's the name of the event on the posters. this is at the st. lawrence centre for the arts on front street in toronto.
my get-pushed partner this week is liana bull @kiwinanna who challenged me to "capture a street image that evokes emotion in the beholder."
a couple of young women hurries past the vagrant who is asking for "spare change" so he can eat. another young woman walks while busy with her mobile; do you think she'd notice the vagrant? it's a wonderful life, but for whom?
the vagrant does not bother me. it's the girl on the phone that does. what is so important, what is so urgent that most people cannot go about anything without that stupid mobile. that is an accident waiting to happen.
Boy, do I ever agree. For all of its promise I view the cell phone as today's most intrusive creation. Now, back to my Sudoko puzzle on my.....aw, crap. I do love the shot, Vikki, and I'd say you met your challenge.
I don't know how you cope with what others want you to portray! I am a rebel and thought you were too! Don't want to do what I am told to do! Sorreee......... This is sad and real!
What I love about street photography can be the complexity of all the intersecting lives. It doesn't say "no sitting". And I'm with you on the phones. What gets me about that is that everyone is elsewhere.
@lesip@summerfield good thing it doesn't say no sitting! ;~} Wonderful street shot that evokes several different emotions. Totally agree about the phone!
@summerfield It sure does - a great image to evoke emotion as you clearly have succeeded going by all these comments. Your title sums it all too. A wonderful life for whom?
i am very guilty of walking with phone in hand... i find it a helpful escape from reality ;p
