this week's 52 portraits of me prompt is "dance". i am seriously starting to doubt whether i will last the 52 weeks. dance, like what is that? i was stumped with this one because how do you take a photo of yourself whilst dancing?
i've only attended a few dances when i was young. i even conveniently got under my mother's wrath so i was grounded and didn't have to attend my junior prom in high school. but there were times i couldn't avoid attending, either because i was officer of the event or i was compelled by my teachers. but i never danced.
then i met my best friend lulu. she loves dancing and insisted at the outset that i dance. i'm happy to stay in the sidelines but she would have none of it! so in 2008 when we went to manila, i had to go with her to her alumni ball. off we went for a dancing lesson with her friend who's a ballroom dancing instructor. blimey! i even had to wear an evening gown for the ball.
You have the right body language here - knees apart, high heels just being seen, and elbow on knee! Was that you on the uTube?? I was taught this dance on board the ship when we were cruising last year. Salsa?
@maggiemae - yes that was me, a few pounds lighter and my hair coloured dark. i forgot what that dance is called. i don't really have any interest in dancing. thank you, maggiemae.
@stray_shooter - aha! just as i suspected. the suggested videos are somewhat along the lines of what YOU had previously been viewing on youtube. really, ron, orgies? tsk! tsk! tsk! naughty! :-P
First dancing lesson and so good? I begrudge! They use to call me Mr. Rock ( and they refer to the stone thing, believe me)! Mr. penguins doesn't know what he's missing!
Well, you know what they say, "There are plenty of fish in the sea!" and Mr. P can go take a swim with them. I never liked dancing in high school- too shy- unless it involved musical theater. Then I was ok. But in college I was dating a fellow who belonged to a fraternity. Lots of dances and he enjoyed dancing too so I learned to like it. But ballroom is another story. I don't think I'd be able to stand in those shoes let alone dance in them. Great story shot!
