the old books once again, a quizzing glass and an old skeleon key.
all these books i am reviewing - novels in regency england, are enhancing my old world vocabulary, and giving me insight on the ridiculous behaviours not only of the aristocracy but of those that are not in that league. for example, it wasn't a good idea for a woman to be so knowledgeable about anything as it was frowned upon. and man, oh man! those people were heartless and would not think twice about murdering people to gain inheritance or whatever. those people were mean!!!
it's been miserable here today and coming home it was rainy and windy and cold and damp. so still life it is again.
If you enjoy regency novels and are not adverse to some romance - Georgette Heyer novels are a scream. She had a fabulous sense of humour and whilst fantastically highlighting the era and all the quirks - all delivered in a tongue-in-cheek fashion.
Nicely done. And here I see another subtle difference between the Canadian and American language. Where you call it a skeleton ke, we here in the Lower Forty-Eight say skeleton key. Small difference, eh?
