"a single sunbeam is enough to drive away many shadows." - st. francis of assisi

this is the ranger lodge in the african savanna section of the toronto zoo. it is now closed for the season but the shadows cast by the sunlight on the mosquito net caught my eye. i shot this through the window glass so there's not much choice on perspective.

i miss sleeping with a mosquito net covering. in the old country, being in the tropics, mosquitoes abound and so the need to have mosquito nets. you have to fold the bottom of the net under the edge of the mattress or mat to be able to protect yourself.

lots of lessons learned during the sooc nifty-fifty month. now the question would be how much of those lessons learned gets retained and put to use now that we're back to "normal" whatever normal means.

I can understand missing the netting, but not the need for it. It is kind of lovely and regal feeling.

This has an ethereal quality to it - like on a Princess's bed! Nets would be no good to me - a mosquito would be bound to find me!

Got bit by a pesky mosquito the other night and the itchiness woke me up. Would have loved to have one of these to protect me. Awesome capture of the light and shadows!

Somewhat spooky. I love the big windows looking into the forest.

the three blocks of fenestration are quite captivating - each in a different way. And all the folds in the net are superbly defined .
