fore!

the dimpled pattern on a golf ball.

did you know that there are 336 dimples on a golf ball? golf balls used to be smooth. however, golfers noticed that older balls that were beat up with nicks, bumps and slices in the cover seemed to fly farther.

thank you for your kind visits and comments, as well as your very generous favs; know that they are all greatly appreciated.
I hope you read the fact about there being 336 dimples rather than counting each one individually. I do think that is a fact most people do not know. Great picture of the mundane golf ball. Good one.

Cool image and facts!

I didn't know the exact count, but knew it was a lot. I'm still looking for a ball I can count on to go straight up the fairway, not into bunkers, water or bushes. Sigh. Love the image.

Are you a golfer too? Good choice of ball and lovely shot :-)

If I got hold of a golf ball it would have more then 335 dimples!

Only 336? Nice close-up, I never played but I like this little things quite a bit.

Aren't you just a font of knowledge?! I have no knowledge of golf at all! Terrific close-up photo. What do the letters ENP stand for?

How many tyimes did you lose count?!!!

@grammyn - engineered for non-professionals.

@summerfield continuously impressed with your knowledge!

@grammyn - hahaha! you're so gullible when it comes to my apparent "talent" tee-hee! i just made that up. nobody could tell me what they stand for but one of the patent lawyers thinks it has to do with the patents although he agrees with my definition. :-D

@grammyn @summerfield Electroless Nickel Coating - I know nothing, but I think I found a reliable source. Those ones look all new and shiny. Great close up.

@grammyn @helenhall - i've checked "electroless nickel plating" and i can't find anything that applies to golf balls.

helen, i used my raynox detachable macro filter for my dslr lenses.

@summerfield goodness - how careless of me. I stopped investigating when I read the word ball. Oh well... Engineered for non-professionals it is then. Enjoy the next game. (thanks for the tech info)

@helenhall @summerfield I think when you look in the dictionary under the definition of the word gullible there's a picture of me! And any rate I'm impressed with everybody's wealth of knowledge
February 21st, 2018
@grammyn ha! and when you look under the word impetuous, there is a picture of me!
February 21st, 2018
You are a weatlth of information. This shows of the pattern and texture of the golf balls very well.
February 21st, 2018
@helenhall @grammyn - now i know that golf balls come in weights that are commensurate to the player's swing as well as the ball's core. for example, the balls above are for the average player's use and not for touring professionals.

@henrir - i read it, but i also did a count myself and i counted more or less the same. :-D

@kwind - thanks, kim.

@golftragic - apparently you want a The Titleist Pro V1; that's what the golf nerds here say so. thank you, marnie.

@ludwigsdiana - yes, i'm a "mini golfer" and i take on the grandchildren fearlessly! hahaha! thank you, Diana.

@maggiemae - don't, just trust me as i did my own count already. thanks, maggiemae.

@domenicododaro - can't play golf. the shortest irons or whatever they're called are taller than me! now, if i use the toy ones, perhaps i could play. :-D thank you, DD.

@louannwarren - thank you, lou ann.

@30pics4jackiesdiamond - didn't as i made marks as i went along. :-P thank you, my lady.

@grammyn - verdict says i could be right until someone can tell me i am wrong! all those information about golf balls, gheez!

@helenhall - thanks for the nudge that you and katy did to me to be reading all these information on golf balls. i wonder how i can put them into money-making use? hahaha! thank you, helen.

@randystreat - thank you, Kathy.

Wow nice close up and now I know so much more about golf!
February 22nd, 2018
@summerfield Thanks for the suggestion, but they don't work for me. I rather think my main problem lies at the blunt end of the golf stick, not the business end.

The black and white really brings out the texture of the ball

Cool shapes, love all these circles...
