these are easy for me to handle because they're just statues. the park where the famous toronto mural is located had been 'refurbished', with more sitting room for the lunchtime crowd during the summer. the small fountain was upgraded to a big water fountain featuring statuettes of dogs and the occasional cat. as you can guess this is also the local residents' place to walk their dogs and/or pets. the fountain is a real show stopper; however, some people, some also dog owners, think the fountain is a bit garish and overdone. i don't really care about it but what i know is that these dogs, i can handle as they don't move and they only spew water!
@golftragic - so afraid of dogs. i was mauled or nearly mauled twice by a german shepherd when i was five or six and i never recovered from my fear. i see a small poodle and i cower. i like them dogs just not near me. and then of course i am severely allergic to cats, just last month i used up my last epipen and there's a shortage of it around here.
@summerfield Oh gosh, no wonder you don't like dogs. I was bitten several times as a kid, but not mauled. I was lucky enough to grow up with dogs due to wartime circumstances so don't fear them. Respect definitely. Cats? Not a huge fan. Worrying about the shortage of epipens though, there was some press coverage about a similar situation here. What's going on?
A great capture of this fun fountain I am not a dog person neither, although many of our friends own one. I have been bitten too often as a child. I go as far as patting them on the back though ;-)
What an interesting fountain, I would love to see it. I had an adverse experience with a German Shepherd when I was a youngster and for many years I was nervous around them. Then I got one as a puppy and now cannot foresee a future without a German Shepherd in my life.
Terrific photo and what a whimsical fountain you have discovered! I have to agree that is a little on the unusual side. I’m not sure I would say garish but… Anyway it makes for a very cute photo
