through the arch down the arch

the northster and i went to check out the "re-enactment" of some old wars/battles at the turn of the 20th century over at Casa Loma. well, the toronto website said "re-enactment" but it turned out it was just an exhibit of the gears used by the Canadian troops during the first world war and the second world war, and while there were some real military people, reservists actually, the older 'veterans' were actually actors who donned authentic versions of uniforms and gears, even down to the handle bar mustaches.

i did meet a gorgeous young man, reservist chambers, who was very well spoken, very well mannered, had a firm handshake and looked into my eyes whilst he talked to me. he said that he had been wanting to become a soldier since he was a little boy and he hoped to see real action soon.

in our wanderings around the castle, i came upon this on the south side of the castle leading to the gardens on the south side of the castle. i like the shadows criss-crossing on the tiles that subtly pointed to the farther archway which in turn lead to the doors to go back inside; the small portion of the sky to offset the gray stone walls and complemented the deep earthy tones of the tiles.

well, that's my story and i'm sticking to it.

for the technique challenge of 'vanishing point'. i'm tagging this, too, for this week's 52-week challenge, which is the golden ratio, although i won't pretend that i know about it or understand the explanation for it, so....
Fantastic view and perspective of lines, angles and vanishing angles and soldiers!

Works for me Vikki. Shame the reservist was too young for you.

Lots of lines. Nice framing of the second porch by the first set of arches.
