you can bet your life on it

i don't know if i still know how to play black jack. the last time i played for real money was in 1979 when the first mr. summerfield was still alive. but back a few years ago, we had a pretend casino as one of our side entertainment during our Christmas dinner at the office. the office hired a couple of real casino card dealers and we were given play money of $500. i had "won" $2,000 and the dealer was telling me i should go to a real casino. i told him that if i am given real $500, i would most definitely pocket the money. i'll be ahead that way, n'est-ce pas?

Love this.

I'm totally with you Vikki. The best way to win at a casino is to keep one's purse tightly closed!! Love the story, you're a real card.

Maybe you're just a natural! Or very lucky! It is fun to play Black Jack but not if you're losing. Love the pic.

very cool shot and composition and love the story. I can play blackjack, but we play it with students to help their arithmetic

I am keeping that $500 too. Yes, enjoy a good hand, but don't rely on it lasting for ever. Great series.

Great story! LOL if they gave me $500 real dollars I'd head to the photo shore for another lens! Actually I'd probably put toward a trip north...Maine and Toronto are calling!

This reminds me of my first trip to a casino. I won at the first roll...and refused to replay. Never been tempted since. But cards...I love card games, we used to play every evening when I was a child. It was great fun. If my brother or I played an inappropriate card, Dad would ask quietly 'Are you sure you want to play that card?' It was a subtle way to steer and correct us. It certainly made us better card players. The French play a very odd version of whist which I abandoned as the rules are tortuous.
