on our last photo trekking, i told the northster i am ever so amazed at her ability to single out someone in a crowded place and get a spectacular shot. two examples are https://365project.org/northy/365/2019-09-15 and https://365project.org/northy/365/2019-09-16 her reply? "it's all about the light". that wasn't the first time i've asked her and she's always given me the same reply. i've always wanted to find that "light" and never quite get the shots right even the few times i thought i've found it.
yesterday, on our way to the waterfront before dinner, we were waiting for the lights to change to cross the other way when i looked to my right and momentarily got blinded by the setting sun. when i took a shot, i meant to get at least silhouettes of the people. for a scintilla of a moment there, i thought i "found" the light. but when i chimped on the screen, i was disappointed because obviously there was light but not the one that @northy sees. my companion said it's all about perspectives -- how i see a scene is different from how others see it. good enough, so i'm settling for the long shadows. :-D
i really like this... i'm not a huge fan of crowds, but with these long shadows, this totally works... like some sci-fi movie where everyone is in thrall and walking into the light... awesome!
(and yes - we will all see things differently - that's what makes it interesting, though, right? we can all take a photo of a scene and each photo can be different and excellent in its own right... and that's how it should be đŸ™‚)
you definitely did see something worth capturing and the shadows as a group come together as more than the sum of the individual parts. The light is great. Did you think about cropping off the top so that the bright sky isn't visible? I think I like it even better like that. Otherwise my eyes tend to be drawn upwards to the sky but that isn't where the excitement of the photo is.
