screw it! by summerfield

screw it!

continuing the kitchen series, this is my vintner's corkscrew. i used to carry a corkscrew in my purse especially whenever i got invited to a party. most of the people who would invite me didn't know a thing about wine until they have their parties and then they forget that because they're not normally wine people hence there's no corkscrew in the house. often, i get to ask to open the wine bottle and all they had was a silly looking contraption that i didn't know how to use. and then with the shortage of raw materials for corks, the wine industry in canada has switched to screw caps or "plastic" corks. that's why, you are lucky when you invite me to your party, because i will bring a bottle of wine that i know would have real cork which means the wine isn't a so-so wine.

hmmm.... methinks i haven't cleaned my corkscrew since i last used it as i could discern some bits of cork in it. tarnation!

by the way, thursday's photograph is that of the old style can/bottle opener.
Shiny!!

Story is as accurate as is your photo of a kitchen utility. Even our supreme wines here have screw tops!

Here it's rare to find a bottle of wine that doesn't have a screw top.

A CSI squad could easily find out what grapes were used in your last bottle!
