someone gave me a belated birthday gift contained in this beautiful gift bag. it was a large scarf, but i was more excited with the design on the gift bag because it was a sparkly flamingo. when i called to thank, my friend was laughing and commented that i seemed to be more excited with the gift bag than the gift itself. of course, i didn't admit it.
i don't seem to hear any good news about the pandemic. while yes, businesses are allowed to re-open, gatherings are allowed to a certain extent, the statistics seem to be getting steadily worse although not in alarming numbers like in march and april. the prognosis especially in the old country is getting worse. before the pandemic, i had planned on visiting to check on my youngest sibling who is autistic, and attend a wedding of a niece to take place in the islands southwest of manila. once there, i was going to check on a place to stay if i decide to retire there. but all those plans are now scrapped. i don't think i can stand to fly in a cramped space of a plane. not for a short trip and certainly not a whole day of flying. i cringe whenever i remember that the last three times i went to visit, i got sick. so, no. no travel plans for me in the next long while.
Agreeing with Diana !
Interesting you’re thinking of the Philippines for retiring ; it’s what we did when we retired, we could live anywhere we wanted and went back to the old country ; it’s a strong pull, isn’t it ?
While I am disappointed for you that you have to cancel your trip I am happy to hear you will NOT be putting yourself in jeopardy.
Fancy bag for you that fits in with your flamingo friday perfectly!
oh dear - i hope many more little things come to cheer you up along the way whilst we get through this. I can not imagine wanting to go on a plane right now - but understand the pull of seeing family. Difficult decisions but I am sure you are right. Of course, I am curious now, to know what that scarf looked like as clearly the bag stole the show.
