a shelter from the stifling heat by summerfield

a shelter from the stifling heat

the snail is perhaps trying to be inconspicuous from predators or perhaps simply taking shelter from the stifling heat. it's the coolest place to be at times like this. found this in a thick bush on our walk yesterday at the park at the west end. my photographer's eyes were in full alert and caught this despite the abundance of queen anne's lace flowers which i was also trying to get near to as word around the trail community is that wild carrots or something that looks like it have spread around the toronto trails and must be avoided at all costs. they have the same effect as poison ivy and can cause rashes or allergic reaction which can be fatal. they look like mini versions of the queen anne's lace and it's difficult to tell them apart if one is not plant savvy.

i barely managed to put a dent on my commenting duties but i promise i will get to your albums shortly.
Well spotted, he looks quite well hidden!

This is so interesting. So the snail climbed into a flower bud? I can’t quite decide what he is in?

So impressive to have been able to see it in the first place. What a fabulous photo! Glad to know you were not affected by the wild carrot either.
