i ruined the painting i did last weekend by trying to 'correct' it. so i will have to try re-doing it but correctly. i thought i didn't have anything to present but then i remembered i did a "companion" to the dogwood painting i did in january. i totally forgot whose photo i modeled it from, but if you happen to know, please let me know so i can give her due credit. my bad because i didn't ask for permission first so i hope she wouldn't mind. but first i must find out who the photographer is.
feeling much better today. i tried to call the family of my friend who died as i wanted to go the funeral service. i thought it's a long shot but i was right, the city would only allow 50 people at the service and as she has many friends and relatives they had to be careful who could attend. i'm not interested in the viewing, i'd like to remember her as she was, alive and always smiling (and sneaking freshly baked cookies to my boss). i think i'll ask my sister to schedule for a mass for her soul. thank you, my friends, for your wishes and concern.
Funny, but in among some beaded leatherwork I was admiring today, I saw cotton popped open against a blue sky. The two artist versions of very different plants look surprisingly similar.
It is interesting how all three blossoms face away from the viewer. And associated with the sad story of the funeral, to me, it looks like a hommage for the departed.
They are so pretty. I like the details and the fact that it's the back view depicted. It is sad that you are not able to attend the funeral for your friend. Getting your sister to schedule a mass for her is a lovely solution.
lovely to see some of your artwork - I like the strong colour and emphasis on shape. What a sad time for you, and not being able to attend the funeral of your friend is so tough. Take good care and be kind to yourself Vikki.
Your painting is very well done! I like that it’s an unusual POV of these dogwood flowers.
