this painting, admittedly, lacks something. there are three things in my mind with regard to the foreground: (1) big rocks and grass on the dunes; or (2) the top of a verandah, with flower pots which would suggest that the viewer is looking out at this view; or (3) perhaps a boat stranded on the dunes?
i was at the office today and it looks like things are getting back to normal. we are encouraged to go to the office at least once a week until normalization has been restored. i still like the fact that i can work uninterrupted as there's practically nobody on my floor, it's like being home, i can just work and not care about everyone else.
The foam on the right lower corner looks a bit strange. And the bend of the shore in that corner is strange. BUT... the sky, the sea, the rocks, they are all AWESOMEEEEE!!!! That water is sooooo realistic. The gradient of the water colour. Spot on. Insane skills!
As for any improvement you suggested, I'm most drawn to number 2. But I would not add anything to this.
A wonderful job of capturing the motion of the ocean and the froth of the surf. Excellent detail to the rocks in the distance as well! Perhaps some shels or seagulls or even footprints of people or birds on the sand?
I agree with Monica, the distant land and bay waters are quite wonderfully rendered. I like all your suggestions about putting a little more interest in the foreground.
If it's going in my bathroom (which is all ocean oriented) I like the idea of dunes and grass with the rocks coming in second place. (o;
By the way and totally unrelated to this picture, what is the best way to send you a financial gift for your sister? We have been having issues with the post office and I don't trust them with a physical package anymore.
How about a dock with someone sitting on the end with their back turned?
