the skating rink at our city hall is once again open. i believe last year because of the pandemic it was never opened to the public. in the summer this is a decorative reflecting pool https://365project.org/summerfield/365-still/2017-03-31 and then converted to an ice skating rink during the winter.
when we were new immigrants in the country, we came here almost every weekend. this is also where i taught my son how to skate. that's from watching too many ice skating shows and competitions on the tele. of course it helped that back in the old country, he learned how to roller skate so he at least knew the basics and i only told him how to balance. the sad thing was i have never skated in my life, so i never got to learn. although i thought if i could teach the boy i could also teach myself. and just to let you know, i did try. i bought me a pair of skates, unbeknownst to everyone and i came here after office and just went really awkwardly slow. i fell so many times which i didn't mind. but the last time i fell, i hurt my coccyx and that was the end of my non-existent skating career. ended before it even happened. 😂🤣
Lovely shot. I like how the decorations are in focus and all the skaters are a bit of a blur. Wonderful story. My feet always hurt and when I came south - well that was the end of ice skating for me.
Ice-skating is my favourite sport. Roller skating as well, during warm times. I learned to skate very early, around the age of 5. I grew up near a skating rink. I still love skating. Unfortunately, our current skating rink is the size of a spit.
Wonderful shot, as a child I was totally rubbish at skating and both my parents didn’t skate. So grown up I never skated and now I’m to anxious to try
Aah, I remember this place, nice composition and choice of focal point. I tried ice skating a couple of times in my teens, I managed to get around the rink but there was certainly no grace or finesse.😂
