a burst of jell-o by summerfield

a burst of jell-o

it was a beautiful day in toronto today and instead of trying to finish the paintings i have started since a couple of months ago, i went downtown instead. but it seemed that the whole country plus the neighbouring continents must've descended down to toronto and the streets were just full of people and that guaranteed to give me a headache. although i am not aware of any official declaration that the pandemic is finally over, it seems people act that way. in public transits and most office buildings, we are still asked to social distance but naturally people just ignore it. what really gets me are people who just sneeze or cough without even trying to cover their mouths or faces.

then in my walkabout, picking the less travelled routes, i ended up at the foot of the CN tower and since the aquarium was right next to it, i thought i'd renew my senior membership. put a dent on my wallet for $75 plus tax, but i thought i could go there anytime during the winter if i'm out of ideas to photograph. my all-time favourite is the jelly fishes. i could stare at them all day.

black and white minimalism is this week's 52 frames challenge. i'm not sure yet if this will be my entry as i haven't gone through all 240 shots i took inside and outside the aquarium. the screaming little children did a number on my nerves, a couple of them banging on the glass of the exhibits and the parents were busy texting or talking on the phone. two young kids were dipping their hands on one of the smaller exhibits and a caretaker had been warning them, while all the parents would do was "don't, charlie. the nice man said don't." and that only gave little charlie more incentive to dip his whole arm. i was trying hard to concentrate in making the colourful fishes become piranhas, but because i couldn't do magic, i just hoped for charlie to lose his balance and fall into the exhibit so i could take lots of photos. some parents are just plain stupid.
Oh my! I do hope your next visit to the aquarium will be more peaceful. Love your jellyfish though ...

Maybe next time go when the little darlings are supposed to be in the school! Beautifully minimalist photo with lots of detail. I really like it in black-and-white

Love your description of the bratty kids! 😁 You will have fun going through your 240 shots! I love this one. They are amazing creatures and so many varieties and shapes and sizes.

Great shot Vikki, it's a shame that your visit was disturbed by poorly behaved children (or should I say parents).

Lovely shot. I hate people coughing and sneezing carelessly too, pandemic or no!
