a tree on cherry street by summerfield

a tree on cherry street

Trees are poems that earth writes upon the sky,
We fell them down and turn them into paper,
That we may record our emptiness.
~Kahlil Gibran

a really old tree on cherry street, about 4 kilometres south east of downtown toronto.

cloudy skies today but the sky sort of opened up a bit later in the afternoon, the predicted rain did not make an appearance at all.

taken from an unused parking lot, with a gate locked and chained displaying a sign "private property no trespassing" but there was no fence on either side of the gate. i had to stand on a dilapidated picnic table to get this framing.
Thought provoking quote! Nice framing of the tower. I had to look for it!

@pamfromcalgary @cscecil @slang - thank you, guys. i found the quote scribbled on an old notepad amongst my manuscripts. how apt because when i transferred the photos i took today, the first non-blurry shot was this one.

Very nice- I like the tree bark with all the buildings in the background. Did you get a shot of the gate with no fences?
June 13th, 2011
@jannkc - thanks, jann. and yes, but it turned out too blurry to have any artistic merit/value.

nice framing of the CN tower there! Is this from Cherry Beach? Is that the tree that has the roots that rise above the sand to almost knee height?
June 13th, 2011
Oh wow you got me right in the heart with that quote! Brilliant! Great framing by the tree and you. Lovely.
June 13th, 2011
@roth - thanks, sue. it's a few kilometres before you get to cherry beach. we were constantly asked to leave and other photogs who were there were saying someone called the cops on them so they were leaving when we got there. i'd like to see your cherry beach tree!

@danig - thanks, DG, you're so sweet. that part of the tree was quite high so XP pulled a dilapidated picnic table and made me stand on it and i kept on shooting because someone was yelling at us to go away. but i managed this one. hehehe.
